Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need experience before joining?

Not at all. Whether you’ve never seen a kimono in your life or you’re a seasoned grappler, our classes are designed to meet you where you’re at. Beginners are welcome (and celebrated).

What should I wear to my first class?

If you don’t have a gi or rash guard yet, no problem. Just wear comfortable athletic clothes—something you’d sweat in. No zippers, no jewelry, and definitely no shoes on the mat.

Do you offer a free trial?

Yep. Your first class is on us. Come roll, strike, laugh, and see if we’re your kind of place.

What’s the minimum age for kids’ classes?

We start kids as young as 5 years old in our Youth BJJ program. If your kid has boundless energy and you’d like to channel it into something structured (and fun), this is the place.

Do I need to be in shape before starting?

Nope. Training gets you in shape. You’ll build strength, cardio, flexibility, and grit just by showing up and putting in the work.

Is this gym only for competitors?

Not at all. We love our tournament junkies, but most of our students train for fitness, self-defense, or stress relief. Whether you want medals or just a healthy hobby, we’ve got you.

Do you have women-only classes?

Yes. Our Women’s Self-Defense program creates a safe, focused environment to learn real-world skills, build confidence, and train with awesome women.

What’s the vibe like?

Think serious training without the ego. We roll hard, laugh harder, and don’t take ourselves too seriously. Expect sweaty hugs, lots of encouragement, and maybe a cat wandering through class.

How do I sign up?

Click the TRY A FREE CLASS button, check our schedule, and show up. After your trial, we’ll walk you through membership options that fit your goals.

Do you sell gear?

We sure do. Our shop has rash guards, tees, hoodies, and other chaos-approved apparel. Train in style and let the world know you’re part of the strangling family.

Do I HAVE TO FIGHT A CAT?

Not unless you make direct eye contact with one of our dojo cats. In that case, you’re on your own.
